Crazycat Gets Cosy: Our Maternal Figures

This was our sixth instalment of Crazycat Gets Cosy and it was a really special one. It was a collaboration with Spice Zi Kitchen and it wouldn't have been possible without Taahira and Mama Zi so a BIG thank you to this amazing and inspiring mother-daughter duo! The collaboration was a dream and a really meaningful one as it helped us continue the cycle of strength and confidence from one woman to another - and this time, it was intergenerational!

We'd also like to say thank you to those who showed up and shared their stories and feelings about your relationships with your maternal figures. It wasn't an easy conversation, but thank you for being present, vulnerable and brave. We've learnt so much from everyone's sharing which also allowed us to view experiences from various perspectives.

A definite highlight was seeing mother-daughter duos at our session; something we've never quite witnessed before. The raw and real conversations that were shared and exchanged - are some of the moments that we won't take for granted and will always remember.

We also saw a lot of awareness and reflections about mother-daughter relationships when the daughter becomes a mother herself. For example, how has your relationship with your maternal figure impacted the relationship you currently have with your own daughter? Apart from that, seeing maternal figures who were at the session relating to each other also warmed our hearts. It also got us thinking - how different would they have been if they had safe spaces like these when they were bringing up their own children many years ago?
